States can improve family access to work supports by simplifying program policies (e.g., reducing unnecessary verification requirements) and by aligning policies across the different work support programs. This report describes the experiences of six states participating in the Work Support Strategies initiative as they identified and adopted various policy changes to reduce administrative burdens for clients and workers. It describes the types of policy changes made and the challenges encountered as states sought to streamline family access to Medicaid, SNAP, and child care assistance.
