摘要 | The Violence Against Women Act, reauthorized in 2005, mandated states receiving STOP funding to provide free sexual assault forensic exams (SAFEs) to victims without having to report the sexual assault to law enforcement. States were given until January 2009 to fully comply with the mandate. This study is the first evaluation to look at implementation practices since the January 2009 deadline. The presentation includes background information on the reauthorization, the study design, and findings from national surveys of STOP administrators, compensation administrators, and state coalitions. Findings from the surveys cover best practices and challenges for the implementation of VAWA 2005.
