PCLG discussion paper number 11, is intended to provide guidance for conservation practitioners on whether and how to address poverty alleviation in the contexts in which they work. It addresses the overarching question: “What role should the practice of conservation play in the alleviation of poverty?” The paper provides a framework for evaluating how to ensure conservation actions do not exacerbate poverty and under what circumstances conservation actions could help alleviate poverty.
